Stolen Motor Vehicle, Flight from Police GO#17-26539

At approximately 10:00 p.m. Halifax Regional Police responded to the Canada Games Centre at 26 Thomas Raddall Avenue, Halifax, where a citizen reported that his vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot. As officers were gathering information and conducting a preliminary investigation on scene, a HRP K9 member located the stolen vehicle travelling, without its lights on, along Glenforest Drive in Halifax with a lone occupant. The K9 officer activated his emergency equipment and attempted to pull over the vehicle, however, the vehicle sped away at a high rate of speed, westbound on Glenforest Drive. As this was a residential area and given the high rate of speed that the stolen vehicle was travelling, the K9 officer terminated the pursuit. Members of the HRP West Division Quick Response Unit had previously attended the area to assist and witnessed the vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, failing to stop for a stop sign at Willet Street before pulling into an address in the 200 block of Willett Street.  A 17-year-old youth from Halifax was arrested at that location without incident, he will appear in Halifax Youth Court on Wednesday February 22 to face charges of Theft over $5000.00, Possession over $5000.00, Flight from Police, Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle, Impaired operation of a motor vehicle, and Breach of court orders. 

Assault with a Weapon GO#17-26421

Police Reports - 2 days ago

At approximately 4:45 p.m. Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a stabbing in the area of Gottingen Street and Falkland Street in Halifax. On arrival police located a 38-year-old man with stab wounds to his hand. The victim informed police that he had been involved in a dispute with a man near the intersection of Gottingen Street and Cogswell Street, Halifax. During this dispute the suspect produced a box cutter and swung it at the victim, striking him in the hand. Police were able to obtain a suspect name and description from the victim. The victim was transported to hospital by EHS paramedics for treatment.  At approximately 4:52 p.m. a 31-year-old man from Halifax was located and arrested by police in the area of Divas Lane and Adams Avenue, Halifax, and he will appear in court on Wednesday February 22 to face weapons and assault charges.


Motor Vehicle Crash

Update February 19, 5 a.m.

A 35 year old Halifax man has been charged with Impaired Driving and is set to appear in Halifax Court on March 25th, 2017 to answer to the charges.


Shortly after 8 pm Halifax Regional Police was called to the 0-100 Block of Ashdale Avenue in Fairview in relation to a car that had been flipped on it`s roof.  Upon arrival officers found the vehicle unoccupied and initiated an investigation.  Officers located a 35 year old man in the area suffering from minor injuries and arrested him for Impaired Driving.  He is currently in the custody of Halifax Regional Police and the investigation is continuing.  More information will be released when it is available.

Assault, GO# 17-21796

Police Reports - Feb 15, 2017

At 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, February 12 an East Division member was dispatched to the 100 Block of Nova Court in Dartmouth in response to a report of a man running around the area in his underwear. The officer made contact with the male and transported him to a nearby ambulance. The officer helped the male into the ambulance and stood by while he was treated by paramedics. The man suddenly became agitated and assaulted a paramedic and the attending officer.  The man was eventually subdued and restrained by police in the rear of the ambulance.

The Paramedic was not injured and the officer was treated for minor injuries in hospital and released. The investigation into the actions of the 24-year-old man is continuing.

Robbery, GO#17-22147, Central Division

Police Reports - Feb 13, 2017

Last night at 7:47 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a robbery that had taken place on the MacDonald Bridge shuttle bus approximately 10 minutes earlier. 

HRP met with the 18-year-old victim who reported that as the suspects were exiting the bus on the Halifax side of the bridge, one of the suspects intimidated him into believing that he would be assaulted if he did not hand over the necklace he was wearing.  The victim handed over the necklace and the suspects fled the scene.  They were described as being: 1) as a black youth, 15-18 yrs old, 5'10-6'0 feet tall wearing orange Jordan  sneakers and a grey hooded sweater; 2) a man described as having a muscular build and wearing a grey hooded sweater; 3) a woman described as heavy set with wavy/curly hair, dressed in all black.

There were no injuries in this matter.  HRP patrol members arrested the three suspects in the 2000 block of Brunswick Street in Halifax.  The three suspects have been released from custody based on the wishes of the victim, however, the investigation is on-going.

Robbery GO#17-21502

Police Reports - Feb 11, 2017

At approximately 2:05 pm Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a robbery at the C Shop located at 6141 Young St in Halifax.  On arrival it was determined that a man had entered the store and demanded money from the cashier.  A quantity of money was turned over to the man before he fled the area toward Young St.  There was no weapon seen or indicated in this robbery and no injuries to the cashier.  The suspect is described as: a white man, in his 30’s, scruffy facial hair, wearing a puffy dark colored jacket, a dark colored touque, blue jeans and black shoes.  Members of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division will be continuing the investigation.  Part of that investigation will be to determine if this robbery is linked to another robbery that occurred overnight at the Shell Gas Station located at 2616 Robie Street in Halifax.

Robbery GO#17-21274

Police Reports - Feb 11, 2017

Shortly after 2 am a lone male entered the Shell Gas Station located at 2616 Robie Street and demanded cash. The suspect was described as a white man in his early 30s with scruffy facial hair and missing teeth. He was wearing a dark jacket and a navy toque.  The man left the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.  No one was injured in the incident and police are continuing to investigate.

Weapons GO# 17-17573

Police Reports - Feb 4, 2017

Shortly after 11:00 p.m. East Division units were called to a disturbance 0-100 Block of Primrose Street in Dartmouth. Upon arrival police located three people who claimed to have been assaulted and sprayed with a sensory irritant while in a dispute with a young man.

While officers were searching the area with assistance from K9 they located a male matching the description and a short foot chase ensued. The male was later located in the rear of a building on Pinecrest Drive.

A 16-year-old Dartmouth youth was arrested for assault with a weapon, obstruction, resisting arrest and possession of weapons dangerous. Investigation revealed the victims were involved in a dispute with the accused inside a nearby residence that resulted in them being sprayed by the sensory irritant.

The 16-year-old was released on a Promise to Appear to answer to his charges at a later date in Youth Court. 

Vehicle on Fire GO#17-16496

Police Reports - Feb 2, 2017

At approximately 12:14 a.m. Halifax Regional Police responded to the area behind the LeBrun Recreation Centre, located at 36 Holland Drive, Bedford, for a report of a vehicle on fire. HRP located an unoccupied Ford Escape that was fully engulfed in flames. Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency responded and extinguished the fire. As part of the preliminary investigation, it was determined that the vehicle had previously been reported stolen to police from an address in Bedford on February 1, 2017. The matter will be investigated by members of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Section.

Attempted Break and Enter GO#17-15244

Police Reports - Jan 31, 2017

At 7:45 p.m. on Monday, January 30 a witness in a vehicle in the 1-100 block of School Avenue observed a 40-year-old male suspect attempting to break down the front door of a home by ramming it with his shoulder. The witness yelled at the suspect and the suspect approached the witness with a beer bottle in one hand and a knife in the other. The witness backed away from the suspect in his vehicle and contacted police. Police arrived onscene and arrested the suspect.

The suspect is being held for court today and is being charged with attempted break and enter, possession of dangerous weapons and assault with a weapon.



Recovered Stolen Motor Vehicle GO#17-15256

Police Reports - Jan 31, 2017

Shortly before 10:00 p.m. on Monday, January 30, Halifax Regional Police arrived at Waterfront Park Drive in Bedford after witnesses saw a Chevrolet Tahoe plunge into the Bedford Basin. The underwater recovery team responded, located the vehicle, and confirmed it was unoccupied. Police determined that the vehicle had been stolen from Halterm Container Terminal. 



Weapons Complaint GO#17-15041

Police Reports - Jan 30, 2017

At 12:00 p.m. on January 30, Halifax Regional Police responded to a residence in the 5600 Block of West Street in Halifax for what the resident believed was bullet holes. Officers located several holes in the residence and several shell casings in front of the residence. The shooting is believed to occurred sometime overnight, the area was canvassed in an attempt learn when the shots were fired. No one was injured. The file remains under investigation.
